September 17-19, 2010
Deadline to sign up is Sunday, September 12
Sacramento Methodist Assembly – Cloudcroft area
Wesley joins other young adults in NM and TX to serve the camp by helping them get ready for the winter months. We do a lot of hard work, but also have some great worship and teaching/learning sessions by our speaker, Andrew Schwartz.
*SWIFT stands for Students Walking In Faith Together. Although most of the participants will be from campus ministries, any young adult…in college or not…is welcome to attend SWIFT.
EMPTY BOWLS
Under the trees near Corbett Center
Empty Bowls is an Autumn event held on campus to make clay bowls which are later offered for sale to help raise funds for El Caldito, the local soup kitchen. In 2009, Wesley contributed $719 to Empty Bowls to help feed the hungry
I CAN, YOU CAN, WE CAN SO THEY CAN…FOOD DRIVE FOR THE HUNGRY
Halloween Night, October 31
Wesley invites other campus organizations to join us in this fun trick-or-treating event designed to collect a ton of food to help the LightHouse Food Pantry (serves the East Mesa) and Casa de Peregrinos, (serves Dona Ana County). Simple…dress up, work your assigned area of Las Cruces, enjoy the candy you still get…and be satisfied that YOU have done something to help others. We usually begin at 6pm and end at 9. Encourage other groups to join us. They can receive Off Campus Community Service credit for participating with us.
EYE Border Mission Day
January 29, 2011 – El Paso/Juarez Border Area
Wesley joins area youth groups to serve areas of need near Lydia Patterson and Houchen Community Center. Both these UM missions serve the impoverished in the border area.
ROC
Rhythm Of Christ Mid-High Camp
March 4-6, 2011
Wesley completely designs and implements a challenging and fun camp for mid-high youth in our conference. This popular camp is a favorite Wesley event. To ‘work’ ROC, priority is given to active Wesley members who will make the commitment to attend Bible Study prior to ROC and to serve on one or more committees. It’s an awesome event!!
SPRING BREAK MISSION TRIP
March 19-27, 2011
This past Spring Break eighteen Wesley students and sponsors traveled to Shiprock NM to serve at the Four Corners Native American Ministry. It was a great trip…one of serving others, growing spiritually, and learning about our neighbors in the Four Corners area.
Join us as we prayerfully discern where God is calling and leading us to go in 2011.
Your desire to participate should not depend on where we are going, but that you want to serve others and personally grow. We will have info about the Mission Trip before Thanksgiving Break.
